How it works

From first look to real progress

What learning with Chipy looks like for students, for parents and guardians, and for tutors.

The learning journey

  1. 1

    Explore

Browse subjects, levels and real lesson previews. No account needed.

  2. 2

    Join Chipy

Accounts are created by invitation once a place is confirmed. You get a single-use link to set your password.

  3. 3

    Get your class and timetable

Chipy places you in a class with a tutor and a regular schedule, online or in person.

  4. 4

    Learn in class

Each class follows a lesson plan. For online classes, the join link appears 15 minutes before the start.

  5. 5

    See your progress

Tutors record attendance, lesson progress and feedback against a clear rubric.

For students

  • Explore subjects, levels and lesson previews before you join.
  • Your timetable shows your classes and the join link when it opens.
  • Every lesson has objectives, materials and a take-home task.
  • Your attendance, progress and feedback stay on your record.

For parents and guardians

  • A parent or guardian contact is required for every learner under 18.
  • Guardian accounts are optional and created by invitation.
  • Linked guardians see only their own child's attendance, progress and feedback.
  • Consent for things like online sessions is recorded, and can be changed.

For tutors

  • Tutor accounts are created by the Chipy team.
  • Tutors are verified before their profile is public.
  • Teach from a structured curriculum with tutor guides for each lesson.
  • Each class has a schedule, a roster and an attendance register.

Built with young learners in mind

Every student, parent, tutor and administrator sees only what their role allows, and this is enforced by the database itself, not just by hiding buttons. Sensitive actions are logged, and signed-in users can report a concern.

Questions

Do I need an account to look around?

No. Subjects, levels, tutor profiles, lesson previews, resources and the classroom preview are all open. We only ask you to sign in when you want to do something that belongs to you, like joining your class or saving progress.

How do I join Chipy?

Accounts are created by invitation. Once a place in a class is confirmed, you receive a single-use link to set your password. Parents and guardians can be invited too.

Are classes online or in person?

Both. A class can be online, in person, or a mix. Some are one-to-one and some are small groups.

How do online classes work?

Your class has a regular schedule. For online classes, the video call link appears on your class page 15 minutes before the start, and only students placed in that class can see it.

How is progress measured?

Each lesson has clear objectives. Tutors record attendance and give feedback on a four-step competency scale (beginning, developing, proficient, advanced), sometimes with a score.

What can parents and guardians see?

A linked guardian can see their own child's records, such as attendance, progress and feedback. They can't see other students.

How do payments work?

Fees are agreed with Chipy and recorded by the Chipy team. Online payment isn't available in the app yet.

Is it safe for teenagers?

Tutors are verified before their profile is public. Communication is tied to lessons and classes, and Chipy doesn't offer private adult-to-minor messaging.
